Elementary Faith FormationWednesday Classes: Elementary Faith Formation classes begin this Wednesday, September 21. Classes are at 5:00 – 6:15 pm and 6:45 – 8:00 pm. Catechists have been asked to contact the parents/guardians of their students to introduce themselves and to let them know to what room(s)to bring their child(ren) this Wednesday. If you do not hear from your child’s catechist before Wednesday, arrive early for your child’s class session this Wednesday and enter the school building through Door 3. Door 3 is the door into the school to the right of the main entrance to the church. Class lists will be posted near Door 3. Hall monitors will be available to assist you in finding your child’s class. Clerical Assistants and staff will be available in Room 109 to answer questions. Home-school Faith Formation Materials: Home-school Faith Formation materials will be available at the parish office front desk for parents/guardians to pick up beginning Thursday, September 29. Faith formation is engaged in continuing the mission of Jesus Christ through evangelization and catechesis. We are called to form catechetical leaders that serve families in the parish with elementary children in grades 1-5 who attend public schools. Our religion program, A Call to Faith, is coordinated with the program of Epiphany School. This curriculum supports a catechetical process which connects faith and life. It provides a comprehensive presentation of doctrine, scripture, morality, prayer, and sacraments taught in age appropriate ways. Elementary religion classes are offered:
Catechists are recruited from the parish. They participate in an interview and a workshop before classes begin. As with all our parish volunteers who work with children, catechists undergo a criminal background check and are expected to participate in a three hour awareness training session called Protecting God's Children. Epiphany Elementary Home-school Faith Formation (Grades 1-5): Materials are ready to be picked up at the parish office for families who are registered for Elementary Home-school Faith Formation. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 9:00 pm and Saturday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
