Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a formal journey to become a member of the Catholic faith tradition. Participants are either not baptized or baptized in another faith tradition (e.g. Lutheran, Methodist).

When do they meet?  Wednesday nights from 6:45 – 8:15. We begin in late September and meet weekly until a few weeks after Easter.

When do become a Catholic?  At the Easter Vigil, the night before Easter.

What if I work nights?  Contact Katie Gebhard as sometimes she facilitates a daytime RCIA.

Do I need a sponsor? Yes, you will need a person who is a confirmed, practicing Catholic at least 16 years old. If needed, we can help you find a sponsor.

Does a sponsor need to come to the sessions?  We invite them to participate, but it is not required.

Can I decide not to become Catholic once I’ve started the sessions? Yes. We’re all on a faith journey. This is a time to ask a lot of questions and discern where God is calling you.

Questions? Please feel free to contact Katie Gebhard at either 763.862.4335 or kgebhard@epiphanymn.org.
