Epiphany School Readiness Preschool Program
The Epiphany School Readiness Preschool Program will begin registration for the 2008-2009 school year on Tuesday, January 29. To request a registration form, call 763.755.7341. Forms can be mailed or picked up in person; first-come, first serve basis.
Mission Statement
"We as a caring Christian community want to meet the needs of our Parish by providing an affordable, high quality school readiness preschool program. Our program seeks to provide children with a foundation for future education and an enthusiastic desire to learn. Based upon a holistic approach, our program will focus on the child's total well-being; including social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual health. The Epiphany School Readiness Preschool Program will encourage the development of fundamental academic, self-help and social skills which will prepare children for a successful transition into kindergarten."
Kindergarten Preparation
Today there are many fundamental skills expected of children entering kindergarten. Below are some examples.
Kindergarten academic skills include letter and number recognition, classification, one-to-one correspondence, cutting and printing their first name.Age-appropriate life skills include dressing themselves: tying their shoes, zipping, snapping and buttoning their coats.
Appropriate social skills include sharing, taking turns, lining up, raising hand to speak, and expressing own thoughts and feelings.
Classroom Environment
Children enrolled in our program have the opportunity to participate in a variety of planned and meaningful activities designed to stimulate academic and social-emotional development. We are fortunate to have a spacious classroom fully equipped with age-appropriate materials. Some of our interest areas include: creative arts, science, books, computers, board games, drama arts, floor games, blocks, and manipulatives.
Program Hours, Days of Operation, Ages Served
The Epiphany School Readiness Preschool Program is open to the community. Sessions are available on a M/W/F or T/Th basis, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., lunch is provided.The program will be in session all school days according to the Anoka-Hennepin School District and Epiphany School calendars.
Children may attend if they are already five but not quite ready for kindergarten, OR if they are four years old on or before September 1 of the year they register. Children must be toilet-trained.
Rate and Registration Information
The program is completely supported by parent fees. Registration will take place mid-to-late January. All children MUST pre-register.
