Although Epiphany has always practiced stewardship through its various ministries, in the past few years we’ve made a commitment to become a full stewardship parish. The following is a brief timeline to help you understand the ongoing process of stewardship at Epiphany.
- 2002 – The parish leadership entered a discernment process at the request of Father Patrick Kennedy, Pastor. During this process, it was determined that one of the major goals of the parish was stewardship.
- October 2002 Four members of the parish attended the International Catholic Stewardship Conference.
- January 2003 The Stewardship Committee was formed.
- Spring 2003 The Stewardship Committee created a three-year plan focusing the first year on time/prayer, the second year on talent, and the third year on treasure. However, the committee realized all three areas are continuously a part of being a stewardship parish.
- Summer 2003 The parish entered its first discernment process to determine the parish leadership. The first Stewardship Commission was formed in this process.
- Fall 2003 – Tom Sonni, Director of Development for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, spoke at all the Masses regarding the importance of prayer in our lives.
- Fall 2003 – Spring, 2004 Various activities and mailings were developed focusing on prayer in all of our lives and building a relationship with God.
- September 2004 Sister Marion Welter, SSND became Epiphany’s Stewardship Director.
- Fall 2004 Bishop Sylvester Ryan, Diocese of Monterrey, CA, spoke at all the Masses regarding stewardship as a way of life.
- Fall 2003 to present Members of the parish leadership, staff, and community attended various stewardship conferences, workshops and trainings.
- February 2005 A Ministry Booklet was mailed to all registered families.
- February 2005 A Ministry Fair showcasing over 100 ministries and organizations was held.
- Fall 2005 Father Joseph Creedon spoke about stewardship at all Masses and gave a workshop on stewardship and the liturgy.
- February 2006 All members of the Church of the Epiphany were invited to enter into a covenant agreement with God to be grateful stewards of all of His gifts.
- July 2006 Epiphany became a Total Stewardship Parish.
- January 2007 Because of a long term debt, tuition was reinstated in the school. The vision leading to total sewardship remains.
